Accessibility

At Incarnation, we value people of all abilities and strive to make our fellowship space and worship services accessible to everyone. On this page you will find details on the efforts we have made to accommodate people with impaired mobility, who are Deaf or hard of hearing, who do not have English as their first language, and children with special needs.

Wheelchair Access

Incarnation can completely accommodate wheelchairs of all types and sizes. Our sanctuary is single-level, and all our bathrooms are on the ground floor. Wherever there are a couple of steps, we have wheelchair ramps. And all our doorways are wide enough for even the largest motorized wheelchairs. We have ample blue-sticker parking adjacent to the front entrance.

Wheelchair ramp up to the front entrance, in wide, sturdy aluminum, properly anchored.

The front of our sanctuary has ample space for wheelchairs.

If you are planning to bring a child in a wheelchair, who would want to attend children’s church, feel free to let us know in advance so we can accommodate them properly: email danastandridge@gmail.com

Interpretation for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Two members of our church are Deaf and several are conversant in American Sign Language (ASL). In 2024, Incarnation hosted classes for beginners in ASL. We are also the sponsoring Parish for the first Deaf seminarian seeking holy orders in the Anglican Communion - Marva Sellers (who is resident in St. Augustine).

For our Sunday services, we usually have conversational ASL interpretation, and we are in the process of seeking a professional interpreter.

Please reach out to us if you are looking for a Deaf Bible study group - we are currently connected to two that meet weekly in Tallahassee.

English as a Second Language

Incarnation is a diverse, international community with several members who do not have English as their first language. We will do our best to welcome you too, wherever you hail from! Specifically, we have members who are fluent or conversational in:

  • Spanish

  • German

  • Portuguese

  • Mandarin

  • Japanese

  • Russian

  • Igbo

  • Ukrainian

  • Telugu

Children with Special Needs

You’ll see on our children’s ministry page that we seek to love and reach children of all ages and abilities at Incarnation. We have experience welcoming children with various kinds of special needs, including physical disabilities, behavioral challenges, and children on the autism spectrum. In addition to our two class leaders in every room, we hire special needs aides in the classrooms where someone needs a little extra help and attention.

We would plead with families not to hide from the church community if you have a child with special needs. It can sometimes feel, honestly, a little embarrassing, and you can feel like you are inflicting a burden on other people. We don’t feel that way! Our services are filled with the various noises of children, and we love that. We try our hardest to make children and parents feel welcome. And we will do our utmost to include every child in children’s ministry to the fullest extent we can.
